Anonymous notes

Dear anonymous,

One of the best pieces of advice I have received in ministry regarding notes that you get on a weekly basis is:

“If you can’t sign it, I can’t read it.”

On a practical note, I can’t follow up with what I can’t follow up with.   While I love your little smiley face, I can’t connect with you about what you wanted to tell me, AND you never filled out the other side that the piece of paper was intended for?!

Anonymous, I’m sure I’d love you if I knew who you were, but it’s so hard when I don’t even know your name =(

Sincerely,

Phil

Reason #2 I love MGEFC

Church-Exterior

Family.

It’s just that simple.

At Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church, “Family” is not only an atmosphere that exists even within the context of it’s size, but it is a HUGE principle that runs deep in the hearts and intentions of everyone involved.

Without fail, each staff meeting has a moment where we are always asking, “Is this promoting an atmosphere of true family?”

Why?

I think it’s because that’s what this church was built on.  It is the principle the ministry staff members and elders have held on to.

If family isn’t the word that does it for you, then how about these:

Unity

Fellowship

Community

Accountability

Yeah…I love the people I work with and serve!

Live From Downtown Minneapolis…

This is my attempt at using qik.com to stream a worship confessional.  It is pretty bad until 6:07.  Fast forward to there is the jumpy video and audio is killing you.  Look for worship confessional #1.1 later ;)

Reason #1 I love MGEFC

I am surrounded by some of the most talented people I know.  Seriously…it’s almost unfair to think of all the people that are involved in the worship arts ministry at MGEFC who could easily walk into a church and take a position as a worship leader.  Even more so, they do it for free! I mean check this out, in our worship arts ministry, I’ve got

  • People with bachelor degrees and masters degrees in music
  • Gifted songwriters
  • a dude that was on an episode of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (now THAT’s sweet…admit it)

On top of that, I think I’ve got some of the best vocalists in MN.  But above it all, they are all people with HUGE hearts for the Lord.  They’ve been through so much change within the worship arts department, but they have always remained faithful and always committed.

That’s what I love about my church.

What do you love about yours?
